Our Shooting Sports Programs

York Izaak Walton runs matches just about every weekend March through November that involve most firearms. Our events range from casual shoots for novices, to competitions which draw and challenge some of the best shooters in the region.

We have something for everyone.

All of our matches are open to the public but most require advance registration, and some require shooters to be qualified before competing.  All events are posted on the Chapter calendar.

Please read the descriptions of each of our events below for details, contacts, and specific information.

For more information, please email us at  info@yorkiwla.org.

Multigun

2-Gun Action

2-Gun Action

Multi gun action matches are exciting and fast-paced, and require competitors to be extremely familiar with rules and procedures before participating in matches. You shouldn’t think that we don’t welcome new shooters though. We’ll go out of our way to get you involved. If you’ve never seen a real Multi Gun match we invite you to come see one (bring eye and ear protection) and introduce yourself. We’ll be happy to answer questions and get you pointed in the right direction. We follow the IWI Multi Gun rules, and they are available here.

Pre-registration is mandatory for all York Multi Gun action matches.

Sign-up for the Multi Gun matches at York is announced on practiscore  and sign up is required.

If you need info on our Multi-gun shooting at our club contact Chris Webb at  717-668-2325 or visit us on FaceBook

Get ready to get a little dirty, York 2-Gun Action Challenge Matches (2GAC/2GACM) is a match designed for competitors to test their gear, marksmanship, and physical ability on the clock. Matches consist of 5 dynamic stages focused on technical shooting skills combined with strength, endurance, and agility challenges. Challenges include kettlebell throws, weighted props, running, crawling, and strenuous shooting positions. Competitors will need a rigid holster with solid retention, a sling for their rifle as there will be a good deal of movement, and a way to carry at least 2 rifle and 3 pistols magazines.

Expect round counts around 100 pistol and 100 rifle. Recommended intermediate calibers of 5.56x45 or 7.62x39 for rifle and 9mm for pistol. PCCs are welcome to be used in lieu of a rifle, but no modifications to course of fire will be offered. Matches are designed to be completed with an iron-sighted pistol and iron sighted rifles but will be more challenging. Rifle engagements to 200 yards, pistol engagements to 50+ yards

Pre-registration is mandatory for all York 2GAC matches via practiscore.

USPSA

2-Gun Action

FunShoot

USPSA is a fast-paced, action-packed sport based on accuracy, power and speed
(Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas – DVC).  Shooters compete in one of eight divisions using either a pistol, revolver or pistol caliber carbine (PCC).

Matches will be held on the third Sunday of each month from March through October, weather permitting.  Each match will have 5 to 6 courses of fire, one of which may be a classifier.

Beginners are welcome, but you must be able to safely draw a handgun, perform reloads and navigate our courses of fire. If you have never shot an action shooting match (USPSA, IDPA, 3-gun, etc.) before you will be required to attend a pre-match safety briefing prior to your first match.  Handgun shooters will need a holster that completely covers the trigger/trigger guard.  You will also need enough magazines to complete up to a 32-round course of fire (not including make-up shots).  The number of magazines needed will depend on your division.  PCC shooters are required to use a chamber flag.  USPSA has an extensive set of safety rules; we highly recommend reviewing them before your first match.  The competition rules can be found on the USPSA website:https://uspsa.org.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at the email below.

Registration for each match will be via Practiscore at https://practiscore.com/clubs/york_uspsaand will open a week before the match.  Scores will be posted to Practiscore.  We will also post registration information and scores to the blog.

FunShoot

FunShoot

Our FunShoots are designed as a fun, untimed day at the range with friends. They are designed for almost any shooter, from the novice to the experienced multigunner. Primary guns are pistols and pistol caliber carbines. Yes, .22’s are allowed! This is a casual, freeform shoot requiring little or slow movement. Tiers and scoring are optional.

Our primary mission is to provide a venue to introduce yourself, your friends and kids to shooting in a safe group atmosphere. We are very family friendly!

We don't ask much in the way of equipment or experience, just that you are safe at all times. Just bring whatever you have and we will be happy to work with you.

You can learn more about our activities by following us on Facebook!

We usually shoot every 4th weekend of the month. For more info on these shoots, contact Gary at info@yorkiwla.org.
